Vacation 2008
We had a wonderful vacation to Salter Path, NC, with our friends Kim and Randy Arnold.
The week started off kind of crazy - right when we were supposed to leave for the airport, all highways headed to Indy were closed due to flooding in the area. We took a chance and headed to Louisville to see if we could catch a plane from there. We were able to do so, and while the six of us did not all arrive on the same plane, we all made it to NC.
We are so thankful to my Aunt Pam and Uncle Frank for letting us borrow their condo for the week. It was a great first family vacation. Wes and I both agree that vacation takes on a whole new meaning with children. Gone are the days of relaxing by the pool! However, Elise was great all week and enjoyed all the new things she got to do.
Elise was a little scared of the ocean water, but we took several walks on the beach. She enjoyed the view from her Baby Bjorn or from Wes's shoulders. Doesn't she look happy?!
The temperature of the pool was perfect. Elise and Rebekah had matching floats. They loved lounging in pool. One of the special parts of this trip was Wes, Elise, and I were able to visit my granparents (on my dad's side of the family). They were very tickled to meet Elise. Here is the view from the unit's entrance. We were just about to hit the pool. Surprisingly, Elise kept the sunglasses on.
On Father's Day, we went to a minor league baseball game before we had to catch our flight. At the end of the game, kids got to run the bases. Randy and Rebekah and Wes and Elise all took the trip. Some of the other trip highlights were going to the aquarium, taking a boat ride from Beaufort, and eating some great meals.

The Stats
As promised, here are the results of the 6 month check up. Drum role please....
Elise weighs in at 18 pounds 14 ounces and is measuring 27 1/8 inches long - this puts her in the 90th percentile all around. All checked out at the doctor's - she is in perfect health. She didn't enjoy receiving her shots, but only cried for a few moments and then calmed down. She took some long naps that afternoon.
We're headed to the beach next week - yea! - so I'm sure we'll have lots of new pictures and videos to add!
