New Friends and New Experiences

We had a fun filled weekend that included Elise's first 5k, meeting a new friend, and time with Papa T and Grandmama Simmons! Elise looks happy as a clam with her grandparents. Our friends, Todd and Nichole Williams, had a baby boy two weeks ago. Elise looks very big next to her new friend Nick. I love the large cup of coffee Todd is holding!

Four Month Check Up

Elise had her four month check up last week. She is in perfect health and took her vaccines like a champ. Only a few tears! She is still growing like a weed. She weighs 16 lbs (90th percentile) and is 25.25 inches tall (75th percentile). Lately, her hunger has been difficult to curb, so we decided to start her on rice cereal. She was resistant at first, but now seems to enjoy it. Her enjoyment may be directly tied to my mixing it with apple juice instead of milk. We'll transition back to milk after a week or two. Here is a picture of her in her high chair - isn't she such a big girl?!

I also got this adorable picture of her sitting in her chair that her uncles and aunt on the Erwin side gave her.

A prayer request I'd like to share is that Elise is undergoing some major stranger anxiety - or separation from her parents anxiety. She's not been doing well at daycare. I've been called pretty regularly over the last couple of weeks to come feed her because she refused her bottle. Today, I had to travel to Indy, and Wes ended up having to pick her up from daycare because they couldn't get her to stop crying. Since I'll be working from home, she won't be in daycare any longer, but she will be at the house with babysitters. I just get so sad thinking of the distress she feels when Wes and I are not around. I hope this is a phase she'll outgrow. I don't want Elise to have abandonment issues!

Spring Break

Wes, Elise, and I traveled to Chicago and Madison to visit Wes's brothers for Spring Break. While we learned that traveling with an infant isn't exactly relaxing, it was great to see family and friends. In Madison, we took Elise swimming at the pool. She seemed to enjoy riding on the noodle!

Elise's latest and greatest skill is giggling, a boy is it cute. It makes me laugh out loud whenever she does it. Here's a video of her giggles!

Here are a few other pictures from an IU Women's basketball game, before church, and in her new Jumperoo. At the IU game, Elise got on the jumbotron screen a couple of times. We hear the people behind us say, "Hey look, that baby in front of us, he's on tv." Oh well. Hopefully as Elise gets more hair, she'll be mistaken for a boy less.
